Responsible Gambling Promotion 2022
1. For the purpose of improving the supervision and the promotion of sustainable and healthy development of the casino gaming industry, the Macao SAR government added new regulations related to responsible gaming in the Law No. 16/2001 “The Legal Regime of Operations of the Games of Chance”, amended by the Law No. 7/2022. It standardized the requirements of the gaming concessionaires in implementing responsible gaming policies and formulating responsible gaming implementation plans, so as to strengthen the industry’s roles in promoting responsible gaming. The above-mentioned law came into effect on June 23, 2022.
2. The Responsible Gambling Indicators were open to casinos for review in 2022. Through the evaluation criteria applicable to the casinos and other gaming establishments, the level of compliance of relevant establishments in implementing RG measures could be objectively examined. In 2022, a total of 15 casinos and slot machine establishments passed and obtained the qualification of ‘Responsible Gaming Implementation Model Unit’. And the review work would be conducted for more establishments in an orderly manner in the future.
3. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau issued ‘Requirements for the Implementation of Responsible Gambling Measures’ to Macao SLOT Company Limited and Macau Horse Race Company Limited.
4. The Responsible Gambling Station at the Casino Grand Lisboa Palace has been officially launched. Since then, all casinos open to the public in Macao have set up Responsible Gambling Kiosks or Responsible Gambling Stations in their gaming areas.
