Responsible Gambling Promotion 2017
1. A ‘Responsible Gambling Station’ was set up in the casino in Wynn Palace, Galaxy Macau and The Parisian Macao respectively to offer responsible gambling information. Moreover, a ‘Responsible Gambling Station Ambassador’ programme was launched in collaboration with the Macau Youth Volunteer Association, which would arrange ambassadors at the stations to give advice and provide services for people in need. By December 2017, the stations reached 3,844 people.
2. The ‘Responsible Gambling Mobile Application (RG App) Download Zone Activity’ was held at Portas do Cerco checkpoint and Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal respectively. By encouraging people to download and use the RG App, the activity aimed to increase tourists’ and Macao residents’ knowledge about RG, and remind them to have self-control when participating in gambling. Activity participants would be given a souvenir after they successfully downloaded the RG App.
3. The organisers held the ‘Responsible Gambling Promotions – Video Competition 2017’ for the first time. Focusing on the theme of RG Promotions in 2017, the competition aimed to let local residents and tourists understand the potential risks of gambling, so that the public could pay attention to the issue of gambling disorder. Winning videos were later played at the facilities of the winning gaming operators, such as at their casinos and hotels, which helped increase the effectiveness of the RG promotion.
4. Commissioned by the Social Welfare Bureau, the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming of the University of Macau conducted the ‘Responsible Gambling Awareness Survey’ to understand how much local residents knew about RG in recent years, so that the effectiveness of RG promotions could be known and development directions for gambling disorder prevention and treatment services in the future could be formulated.
